All animal illustrations are handmade and make this app a must have for all young animal lovers. I illustrated and developed this app for my own two children when they were 2 and 4 years old. To this day, it continues to be improved and enhanced. The entire app is still 100% child safe.
GENESIS:
Together with my two little ones ( then 4 + 2 years old ) I developed an app that combines their current favorite games. We tried to design all the games in the playground to keep them as clear and simple as possible. Distracting buttons that interrupt the flow of the game were removed altogether, relegated to the top corners or at least well hidden. In addition, we have tried together to optimize the things that always bothered us a bit in the previous game apps.
BACKSTORY:
At some point, even the most beautiful game gets boring. The subsequent search for „another game“ somewhere on the iPad/iPhone was always quite nerve-wracking and frustrating for the little ones (and me). Fortunately, this game collection eliminates that. Alle Tierillustrationen sind handgefertigt und machen diese App zu einem Muss für alle jungen Tierliebhaber. Ich habe diese App für meine eigenen beiden Kinder illustriert und umgesetzt, als sie 2 und 4 Jahre alt waren. Bis heute wird sie immer wieder verbessert und erweitert und die gesamte App ist nach wie vor zu 100% kindersicher.
ENTSTEHUNG:
Zusammen mit meinen beiden Kleinen ( damals 4 + 2 Jahre ) habe ich eine App entwickelt, die ihre aktuellen Lieblingsspiele vereint. Wir haben versucht, alle Spiele auf dem Spielplatz so zu gestalten, dass sie möglichst übersichtlich und einfach bleiben. Störende Buttons, die den Spielfluss unterbrechen wurden ganz entfernt, in die oberen Ecken verbannt oder wenigstens gut versteckt. Zudem haben wir gemeinsam versucht die Dinge zu optimieren, die uns bei den bisherigen Spiele-Apps immer etwas gestört haben.
HINTERGRUND:
Irgendwann wird auch das schönste Spiel einmal langweilig. Die anschließende Suche nach „einem anderen Spiel“ irgendwo auf dem iPad/iPhone war für die Kleinen (und mich) immer recht nervenaufreibend und frustrierend. Mit dieser Spielesammlung entfällt das glücklicherweise. Alle Spiele sind übersichtlich auf dem Startscreen angeordnet und Ihre Kinder können so selbst schnell das Spiel wechseln, ohne in den Weiten des iPads/iPhones verloren zu gehen.

Bei den Spielen dieses Designers bin ich auch fündig geworden. Da meine Maus mit acht Monaten noch nicht wirklich die Technik bedient (das iPad wird eher verprügelt), ich aber auch auf der Suche nach kindgerechten Apps für später war (man kann sich auf Dauer dem ja eh nicht wirklich einziehen) und mich die Gestaltung der Tierklavier-App schon angesprochen hat, habe ich mir weitere Spiele dieses Designers angeschaut und mich dann für das X-MAS Bundle entschieden in der diese App vorhanden ist. Der Spielplatz 1 ist eine liebevoll gestaltete Spielwiese, die wie ich finde keine wirkliche Fehlbedienung zulässt. Es gibt alles mögliche in einem Paket … Malen, Klimpern, Memory, Puzzeln und einiges mehr… Zudem gibt es einen Timer der die Spielzeit begrenzt, wenn gewünscht. In die Einstellungen kommt man auch nicht aus versehen! Und es gibt keine nervigen Popups! Aber meine Kleine hat trotzdem einen Fehler entdeckt… der Fotoapparat in der Malfunktion dieser App hatte keine Funktion. Da wollte der kleine Finger immer wieder drauf, aber Papas tolle Bilder konnten nicht gespeichert werden… Also hab ich mal bei Herrn Essig dem Designer nachgefragt und war überrascht wie spontan er geantwortet hat und wirklich engagiert an der Problemlösung interessiert war. (Ohne die mithilfe der Nutzer fallen Probleme oftmals gar nicht auf.) Es hat keine zwei Tage gedauert da war das Update schon online! Vielen Dank dafür an Herrn Essig! (Jetzt kann Papa mit seinen Kunstwerken die Mama wieder zumüllen ;-)…. ) Bisher habe ich für mich jedenfalls noch nichts ansprechenderes für den Einstieg kleiner Kinder in die Appwelt gefunden als die Apps von Herrn Essig! von mir gib’s ne Kaufempfehlung! Diese App hebt sich deutlich von üblichen Kinderapps ab! Die Gründe liegen an dem hervorragenden, aber zugleich kindgerechten Design der gesamten Spielesammlung, aber auch an der ungewöhnlich großen Auswahl verschiedener Spiele in der bestehenden Sammlung, wie auch dem didaktisch sinnvollen Aufbau. Ich habe diese App für iPhone und iPad für unser 4 jähriges Enkelkind erworben nachdem durch eine Empfehlung in einer Zeitschrift beim Zahnarzt darauf gestoßen war. Es spielen alle damit, nicht nur das Kind. Super gestaltet und es gibt so viele Möglichkeiten sich auszuprobieren! Es bietet Ablenkung für Jedermann und bringt dem Kind bei, sich auch mal etwas länger mit einem Spiel zu beschäftigen. Die Figuren wechseln ab und sind niedlich gestaltet, regen die Phantasie an. Wir haben die Geldausgabe für iPhone und iPad jedenfalls nicht bereut. Die anderen angebotenen Spiele werden wir uns auch ansehen. Bei einem kleinen Problem auf dem Telefon wurde uns umgehend vom Entwickler geholfen. Ein großes Dankeschon. Den Tipp werde ich mir merken – Danke! Die Spiele von ihm werden unser Enkelkind weiterhin begleiten und uns auch.

Wow, what a great app! I love all of the different activities. They provide for lots of fine motor development and cognitive development. I really like this app for young children for several reasons. First, there are plenty of activities in this single app to keep children entertained for quite a while. It would be a great app to use with the „Guided Access“ feature! I love that there are no advertisements within the app and no links that will take children outside of the app. The buttons are easy to push and very child-friendly. The graphics are very cute, too. There is a also a good variety of skills leves that can be entertained with this app. Children will love the easy versions of the puzzle and collect game and parents will love the color and slider puzzles. There is a timer so you don’t need to keep track of how long your child uses the app. The piano in this app is the best, the sounds are very cute and you can customize it in several different ways. Playground HD offers 12 different early childhood games to play at varied levels of difficulty. Occupational Therapists will love this app! It offers adorable illustrations and unique games (Erase, Catch, Roll, Puzzle, Draw and Collect) which gives child repetitive practice with fine motor & visual motor skills. There are also 2 music games(Remember & Piano) for listening & memory which captures the attention of a young child. In many of the games the child is rewarded with stars when task is completed. There is a built in timer to track the time it takes to complete a task. App is flexible – press the „Back Button“ at any time to go to the Home screen. For the 3 higher level games there were no instructions or hints, which made completion of a game sometimes difficult. Levels of difficulty are not clearly defined.

I think this is a fantastic app for kids. There is a nice variety of games so the kids will not get bored. I also felt a couple of the games were really unique as I have never seen them in another app before. The graphics in this game are adorable as well. This is a FABULOUS app for children 2-7! There are so many games and they are all wonderful. Activities increase memory, language, fine motor, and attention to detail skills. I loved that it was an app that both of my children (3 & 5) were excited about and was one that I could sit down and play with them! I downloaded this app to take it to visit my 4-year-old niece so that she could play on my iPad. She instantly loved the application and figured out everything by herself. She loved the puzzle, the memory game and of course the colouring. This game is very well and carefully done, it has a great and intuitive interface that will immediately appeal to small children. I haven’t checked out the new version yet but many levels of puzzle with more pieces would definitely be a good idea – it took my 4-year-old less than a couple of minutes to finish the normal puzzles.Congratulations for this great children’s game !

Wow, 12 different games in 1 app! Both of my boys enjoyed this app. They each had their own favorites. My little guy enjoyed the games of puzzles, erase, draw & color, piano and collect. My 5 yr old enjoyed pairs, slide, catch, remember and roll.
As a parent, I like apps that both my boys can use, they truly are a bang for your buck! This app was fun and educational for both children and was easily navigated.

While playing and exploring this app, I realized the title was such a great fit. When I think of a playground, I think of a place that has something for everyone; from young to old. This app fits that perfectly. There are 12 different games, ranging from simple to difficult and we loved all of them. The graphics are wonderful and the buttons responded perfectly to our touches and swipes. I like the simplicity of this app (not many buttons) which is great as it isn’t distracting for the younger players.
This app has very simple games starting with draw, erase, piano, catch, puzzle and collect and moves to games that are a bit more challenging such as search, pairs (a great memory game), roll, colors, and remember (very much like a game many of us grew up with) and ends with a very challenging game of slide.
It’s hard to name just one favorite, as we really did spend a good deal of time with all of them. Erase is a very fun one but they all really are. I like the fact that you don’t even have to leave this app to have hours of entertainment. The games within this app are just sheer fun. A very well done app indeed and worth the price.

Wow wow wowsers 12 in 1 app! Don’t like the first game try the second and so on and so forth. Lots of different activities to play for all different ages. This is perfect for a household like mine with three children as there is an activity for everyone to play. The favs in this house have been the puzzles, collect, and search. This app provides great bang for your buck with the 12 games included! My son is still exploring all the different things he can do and has even begun to teach the baby how to listen to the piano! Some of the games he finds frustrating but that’s OK as he knows he’ll be able to play them more easily as he gets older – I like this too as he’s not going to master it all at once and then dump the app which happens all too frequently. It’s a great app for little minds that need constant change!

My kids 3, 6, 7, and 9 really enjoy this app. I like that there is something for every age and skill level. Even my newborn enjoyed listening to the different versions of the piano. My 3 year old plays this app every single time he plays with my phone. He particularly enjoys the matching game, the puzzles, catch me and the game where the puzzle rolls around, he thinks he is playing the same game as his big brother who likes the slider puzzle. My 6 and 7 year old girls like the find the differences and the Simon says. My 9 year old likes the slide puzzle and the three in a row game. I do have to admit that none of my kids really got the point of the erase game, but they still play it sometimes. I really enjoy the fact that all my kids can play this together and each can be challenged. I also liked this app because each game has different versions with different animals, it is really more than just 12 games in 1. My family really liked this app, it is definitely a keeper.
