There are just so many activities in this app to keep your child playing for hours. It has such a wide range of skill types as well including memory games, matching games, puzzles and fine motor skills and much more. Your children can progress through each game as they correctly solve the activities. Some beautiful bright colours and fun graphics with the themes running throughout all games. Ease of use allows children from age 2 and up to be able to do the activities. 5 starts for this one.

Great app that lets kids trace upper and lower case letters in their choice of color! You can set the app to say letter names or sounds (great for working on phonological awareness). The “assign” and “pairs” sections lets kids match upper to lower case letters. So many apps focus only on the uppercase letters. I’ve had parents of my students ask me to recommend apps that include lower case letters and now I can tell them about this one!

The Playground apps by Jan Essig were a huge hit at the AOTA conference- the obvious reason being they are just plain fun! The good news is the apps also sneak in a lot of fine motor and visual motor practice. I can’t decide which of the Playground apps is my favorite- in fact my only complaint is I would love to see a “Mega” Playground app containing Volumes 1, 2, and 3! This volume has 12 activities.

… Some of the sub-games are a huge hit with toddlers. The animal piano, where the kids get to pound a piano of cats, is a genius idea. Deleting the fog to reveal the picture below is also a great success with my sticky fingered pals. There are other games which are okay, such as matching pairs, but some are just impossible to do for kids under the age of 3.5 – 4, such as the games of finding the difference and slide and remember.

Playground HD is a wonderfully diverse app for kids. The app includes 9 different games: 1. Search: find differences between two pictures. 2. Pairs: match the same cards and from level to level its getting harder. 3. Puzzle: puzzle different animals. 4. Paint: color the pictures. 5. Erase: uncolor the pictures. 6. Slide: move the pieces to create a picture. 7. Catch: catch the animals, who show up from the ground, but be careful, you are not allowed to catch all animals. 8. Remember: memorize the sounds on the given circle. 9. Piano: play the piano and listen to the animal sounds.
