The “assign” and “pairs” sections lets kids match upper to lower case letters. So many apps focus only on the uppercase letters. I’ve had parents of my students ask me to recommend apps that include lower case letters and now I can tell them about this one!

The Playground apps by Jan Essig were a huge hit at the AOTA conference- the obvious reason being they are just plain fun! The good news is the apps also sneak in a lot of fine motor and visual motor practice. I can’t decide which of the Playground apps is my favorite- in fact my only complaint is I would love to see a “Mega” Playground app containing Volumes 1, 2, and 3! This volume has 12 activities.

There are other games which are okay, such as matching pairs, but some are just impossible to do for kids under the age of 3.5 – 4, such as the games of finding the difference and slide and remember.
